Metals are opaque, lustrous elements that are good conductors of warmth and electricity. Most metals are malleable and ductile and are, generally , denser than the opposite elemental substances. Metals are shiny and lustrous, at least when freshly prepared, polished, or fractured. Sheets of metal thicker than a few micrometres appear opaque, but gold leaf transmits green light. Mining is that the extraction of valuable minerals or other geological materials from the world , usually from an ore body, lode, vein, seam, reef, or placer deposit. Exploitation of those deposits for staple is predicated on the economic viability of investing within the equipment, labor, and energy required to extract, refine and transport the materials found at the mine to manufacturers who can use the fabric .
